Funky Flip Flops by Katie Hacker

Everybody loves flip flops! Decorate your own with these easy ideas.

Materials:
Flip flops
Pepperell® Crafts nylon cord
Elmer’s® Tacky Glue
2 decorative buttons
Ruler
Scissors
Transparent tape
Optional: pony beads

          Directions:

  1. Cut two 8-foot lengths of nylon cording.
  2. Fold one cord in half around the center of the flip flop.
  3. Criss-cross the cord ends behind the strap of the flip flop.
  4. Bring the right cord over the flip flop strap.
  5. Place the left cord under the flip flop strap and up through the loop to form a half-knot.
  6. Bring the left cord over the flip flop strap.
  7. Place the right cord under the flip flop strap and up through the loop to finish the square knot.
  8. Repeat Steps 5-7 to cover the flip flop strap in square knots.
  9. Tie the ends in a square knot on the outside of the base of the strap.
  10. Repeat Steps 2-9 for the other side of the flip flop.
  11. Cut a 4” length of cord and use it to tie the button to the center of the flip flops.
  12. Add a drop of glue to the button knot and to the last knots on each flip flop strap. Let the glue dry, then cut off any extra cord.
  13. Repeat Steps 1-12 to make a matching flip flop.
