Don't get alarmed by the title, we're recycling containers for pet food and not the pets! Have fun looking for unusual glass containers and jars and scraps of carpet.

You will need:

  • #6 Flat, #3 Round, and 3/4" Wash brushes
  • Black permanent marker
  • Tracing and transfer paper
  • 3" x 3" compressed sponge
  • Scissors
  • Glass canister with wood lid
  • Glass bowl
  • Leftover carpet scrap
  • Acrylic paint - White, Red, Blue, Black, Fruit Punch, Yellow, Orange and Black
  • Glass paint - Tangerine, White and Red

General Instructions:

Apply surface conditioner to all glass surfaces before painting. Finish all glass surfaces with a coat of gloss glaze. Let dry. Follow manufacturer's instructions to cure paint.

Dog Canister:

  1. Basecoat lid white. Let dry. Transfer pattern onto lid. Paint spots black, scarf pink. Let dry. Paint eyes and nose black.
  2. Add details and outlines with black pen. Paint pink dots on scarf. Let dry then apply a coat of matte varnish.
  3. Transfer bone and heart shapes to compressed sponge, then cut out. Dip in water to expand then squeeze out excess.
  4. Sponge white dog bone and red hearts onto the canister. Let dry then add details with pen.

Dog Bowl:

Sponge on white dog bones. Let dry. Outline and add spirals with black pen.

Cat Canister:

  1. Basecoat lid yellow. Let dry then transfer cat pattern. Paint face stripe orange. Rub cheeks with blush. Paint eyes, nose and mouth black. Paint bow blue and add Pink and yellow dots. Add "Meows" and details with black pen. Paint three blue dots between each word. Let dry. Varnish.
  2. Transfer shapes to compressed sponge. Cut out, dip in water and wring out excess. Sponge tangerine goldfish and red hearts on canister. Outline and add details with black pen.

Cat Bowl:

Sponge on tangerine goldfish and red hearts. Let dry. Outline and add details with black pen.

Mat:

Transfer shapes to compressed sponge. Wet and wring out excess. Sponge white bones and red hearts onto mat. Let dry.
