Main supplies:

  • Forster® skill sticks
  • DecoArt® Americana® Pink acrylic paint
  • Pacon® crepe paper streamers: pink, yellow and orange
  • glue
  • Fiskars® scissors
  • 2- 18” lengths Pacon® nylon filament

 

Instructions:
1. Connect four skill sticks at end notches creating a square. Continue adding skill sticks all around until there are three rows of sticks on two sides and four rows of sticks on two sides. Make two open boxes.
2. Lay boxes on sides. Connect boxes by gluing a skill stick in each corner as shown.
3. Break off the end sections from one side of eight skill sticks. Connect and glue horizontal sticks to the lower box placing two sticks on each side of box. Add another skill stick over the horizontal addition. Dot sticks with glue, then connect in position.
4. Add water to paint to use as a stain. Paint lantern with paint. The wood will appear glazed, allowing the wood grain to show through the paint. Let dry.
5. Cut 1 yard lengths of crepe paper.You will need a total of 16. Glue 2 different colors to each of the skill sticks extending out fromt he side.
6. Lantern Hanger: Tie end of 18” length nylon filament to one top corner of wooden lantern. Tie the opposite end of filament in the opposite corner. Repeat for other 18” length nylon filament in the other corners of lantern.
